Abby Kent Flythe has dedicated her life to celebrating the artistry of Native American jewelry and fine art. Her passion began at seven years old, growing up in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where she developed a love for collecting antiques and exploring the Southwest on family trips. What started as curiosity has grown into over 40 years of experience as the proprietor of Abby Kent Flythe Fine Art.

After earning her Bachelor of Arts in Art History, Abby began her career at The Stux Gallery in Boston, assisting with the opening of their Soho location in 1986. She later accepted a position as Manager of the Indian Craft Shop at the U.S. Department of the Interior, where she spent nearly a decade managing both the Washington, D.C. and Georgetown locations. During this time, she worked closely with the Smithsonian Institution, appraisers, and collectors to evaluate and identify Native American jewelry, building the foundation of her expertise.

Since founding her own business, Abby has played an important role in supporting the Native American art community. She has helped many of today’s great artists get their start and continues to cultivate connections with miners, lapidaries, dealers, traders, and collectors. For her, every part of the industry contributes to the story behind the jewelry, from its origins in the earth to its final form as a work of art.

Today, with over 40 years in business as Abby Kent Flythe Fine Art, she is recognized as a trusted expert in her field. She shares her knowledge through shows, guest lectures for Gemological Societies, and a collection that has been featured in publications spanning from the 1980s to the present. Her work reflects not only authority but also a genuine passion for honoring the history, artistry, and community behind Native American art!
